Mario Ricardo Rodriguez is a Los Angeles native, first generation Latin-American filmmaker.  He received his BA from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, majoring in Comparative Literature.

After completing his undergraduate career, Mario moved back home to pursue a career in Hollywood.  Upon arrival, he began to learn the craft of lighting through freelance work and later mastered it at USC’s renowned MFA Program at the School of Cinematic Arts.

Being a Latin filmmaker is important to Mario because the stories that inspire him surface from his roots. Stories of undocumented travel and adventure, stories that make you think and feel in your core. These stories matter to Mario. He despises the stereotypical and sexualized characters his people have been subjected to in Hollywood. One of Mario's goals is to change this Hollywood myth of what it means to be Latin-American.
